1974 HONDA CB550 K0

Rescued from Wisconsin, lovingly brought back to life during the lockdowns of 2020.

From languishing in Wisconsin, USA, to tearing up the streets of Valencia, this first model CB550 was imported to the UK in early 2019, where I bought it and left in storage for a while, until the Covid lockdowns of 2020 gave me the time to bring her back to life.
From what I can tell, she'd been sat in the sun for many years, with all the rubber parts rock hard and perished. The engine ran well however, following a full rebuild of the carbs, including vapour blasting to bring back the 'fresh from the Keihin factory' finish.
Engine cases, fork legs, and brake drum were all polished up by hand and treated a Cerakote clear coat which will offer them years of protection. A long a laborious process, but totally worth it.
The clocks were lovingly rebuilt by CB750faces.com, and I can't rate them highly enough in terms of the work, but also the communication during the process.
I dropped the bars to a more European spec, and made my own throttle cables etc. to match the lower handlebar height.
The wheels could do with some attention in the coming year, as they were only given a cosmetic makeover, however the spokes have lost their zinc plating, so they rust pretty badly if not taken care of, but summer is coming, and this bike was made to be ridden!
The paint was taken care of by Matthias of Moto Peinture in Belgium, and depth of the shine is really second to none.
At the time of writing, I'd had the bike shipped to Valencia where I was working, to give me the most badass transport in the city.
